where has all the time gone?

One of the assignments in my Composition class, ENG 131, was writing an op-ed. We were allowed to pick any topic we wanted, so I decided to write about how capitalism is fundamentally changing our perception of linear time.

I was really excited about this paper because I felt like my topic was unique and not often thought about, but also very relevant to our current times. Especially with quarantine, TV streaming services and social media have dominated the digital sphere, so it's interesting to think about the subtler psychological effects of that. Of course, on some level, I knew that this was happening already, but actually seeing all the numbers and statistics laid before me was truly something else.

As for the quality of the paper, I was pretty satisfied with the end result. It was short, snappy, and hit all the points I wanted to cover in only 700 or so words. I did an extensive amount of research on this topic, so I had a lot of examples I wanted to include and a lot of my outlining process involved paring those down to just the most important ones. Overall, I genuinely had a lot of fun researching for and writing this paper. I'm glad we were given the freedom to pick our own topic, because it gave me the opportunity to explore something I might otherwise know nothing about.
