the intricacies of korean "han"

This was definitely one of my favorite essays I've written in college. I loved this Honors class; it was everything I could have wanted out of a class. I also really enjoyed getting to draw from and do research on topics within my own cultural background, and I learned a lot about the history and societal expectations of Korea. Perhaps this is odd, but learning and writing about my culture just made me even more proud to be Korean. I felt like I was sharing a piece of my people's history with the world.
The concept of "han" is also very uniquely Korean. I told my parents that I had written a paper about "han," and they got so excited that I knew what it was. It's something that's so integral to the Korean identity that every Korean knows it. It has a long, contentious history, but I feel that makes it all the more fascinating to explore.
