One day prior to this, there was a leaked document about the overturning of Roe v. Wade. I'm sure everyone heard about it. The club that I'm a part of, Homeroom, organized a group outing to go join the protest that would be taking place in downtown Seattle. Homeroom may be a creative media club, but as POC and overwhelmingly female, we take social and political matters very seriously as well.
This was the first time I was ever actively participating in any kind of organized social action, and it was honestly an incredible experience. To see so many people coming together to fight for the same thing, solely because we all believe in protecting each others' rights, was very moving. I felt proud to be a part of the crowd. And I do think that these protests mattered, even if Roe v. Wade still got overturned in the end. It matters that people were angry about it and did something about it.
